She's `got her bag, she's got her reservation'… Gloria Abbs took her final sentimental journey home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 13, 2017. Gloria is survived by her children; Deborah Keen, James Abbs (Trish), & Carol Perry (Jeffrey); daughter-in-law Michelle Abbs, siblings; Robert Hannan, Norma Tomkinson, Connie Phillips, & Cheryl Nashatka (Ed), eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, & three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan (Mike) Abbs, parents, Elmer & Bertha Hannan, her sister, Sandy Hannan, & her son, Timothy Abbs. Gloria was born June 9, 1930 in Williamsport, PA. Her family moved to Bay City, MI when she was young, where she graduated from Handy High School in `49. She met her future husband there and they were married 1/14/50. They were married for 63 years until his death on 4/25/13. Gloria & Mike relocated to Jackson, MI, where they raised their four children. Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Gloria and Mike greatly enjoyed ballroom dancing and were instructors in this elegant form of dance. Upon retiring Gloria & Mike moved to Florida. They enjoyed travelling, bicycle riding, and spending time at the beach. Gloria was accomplished at carpentry, painting pictures, sewing, crocheting, decorating and other creative endeavors. Her family will miss her delicious meals and will cherish the heirlooms that she created. She was perceptive, witty, funny and always genuine. At her wish, Gloria has been cremated. A memorial will be scheduled at a later date to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Allegiance Hospice Home, 2150 Kingsbrooke Dr., Jackson, MI 49202. The family would like to give heartfelt thanks for the compassionate care given to Gloria and family by the entire staff of the Hospice Home.
