COLUMBIA - Gloria Hall Brinkley, 86, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lee F. Brinkley, Jr.



Surviving is her son, Dr. John Lee Brinkley (Amy); daughters, Brenda Brinkley Byrd (Al) and Betsy Brinkley Lohry (Bill) all of Columbia; her much loved grandchildren, Shannon Jones Carrion(Jason), Jenifer Jones Childs (Craig), Courtney Byrd Scruggs (Daniel), Brodia Vines, Robert Stedman Vines, Sarah Vines Amos (Terry), Leah Brinkley Evans (Jared) all of Columbia, Lindsey Brinkley Shinn (Colby) of Mobile, Alabama and Dr. Eric R. Brinkley (Hannah Smith) of Columbia. She is also survived by beloved great-grandchildren, Raigne Carrion Kirton (Cody), Jadon and Jarod Carrion, Iliana, Mekada and Bendi Wickliffe, Indigo, Aiyana and Kenai Childs, Aleena and Lana Amos, Isis Duncan, Scotlyn and Ethan Shealy, and Brinley and Marley Evans.



Gloria was born to the late Lillian Lever Hall and John Stedman Hall on October 19, 1930. She was a graduate of Dreher High School and the University of South Carolina, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Gloria and Lee were married on August 31, 1951 at St. Paul’s Lutheran. They enjoyed many travels and family vacations especially at the beloved, family beach house “The Glor-Lee-B” at the Isle of Palms. Gloria loved her Gamecocks and attended games until her health would no longer allow. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.



Gloria was a faithful and joyful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church from birth and was very involved in Circle and other church activities. She was a Past President of St. Paul’s WELCA and acted in several St. Paul’s plays through the years.



Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June23, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church’s Good Shepherd Room. Burial will follow the service at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Dr. Tony A. Metze will officiate the service. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street is assisting the family.
