Goldie Laing Bandy Woolwine





Heaven has gained a beautiful soul and faithful Servant. Goldie Laing Bandy Woolwine, age 91 of Fayetteville, WV passed away from this Earth and began her eternal life in Heaven on November 2, 2015



Born on December 6, 1923 in Cannelton, WV, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Lloyd Laing. She married Frank Bandy on December 24, 1941 at Miami, WV. She and Frank were blessed with two daughters, Janice and Lois. In 1957, she suffered the loss of her husband in a tragic slate fall at Cement Solvery Mines, Harewood, WV. In 1964, she married Howard Austin Woolwine and they were blessed with 48 years of marriage until his death in 2012.



She began serving her Heavenly Father on January 29, 1950 when she was baptized in the river at Boomer, WV. She moved to Fayetteville in 1952 and became a lifelong member of Cotton Hill Missionary Baptist Church in 1957 where she served as s Sunday school Teacher, Youth Leader, Choir Member and Ladies’ Circle.



She was a retired Beautician. She graduated from Charleston Beauty Academy in 1959. Upon graduation, she opened and operated a beauty shop in her home for 36 years before retiring in 1995.



In addition to her parents, John and Mary Lloyd Laing and her husbands, Frank Bandy and Howard Austin Woolwine, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice B. Bragg, two son-in-laws, Don Ray Bragg and John Matthews; a great-grandson Slaton Drake Smith, sisters Bertha Shrewsbury and Mable Barnette; brothers, William “Bill” Laing, Clarence Laing, Ralph Laing and Chester Laing.



She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her daughter, Lois Matthews of Fayetteville, WV; grandchildren Deborah Trevithick and fiancé Brian Beach of Beaufort, SC, William “Bill” Smith and wife JoSette of Oak Hill and Melissa Moody and husband Prentiss of Danese; great-grandchildren, Shaunna Snyder and husband Matthew of PA, Lindsey Edwards and Fiancé Dennis Nix of Beaufort, SC, Wyatt Trevithick of Beaufort, SC, Zachary Smith, Joshua Smith, and Kaden Smith all of Columbus, OH, Noah Laing Smith of Oak Hill and Ariel Moody of Daniese; step-grandchildren, Justin Robertson of Oak Hill, Savannah Robertson of Bellaire, Oh, Caitlynn and Christian Beach both of Savannah, GA; great-great-grandchildren, Rylann and Alaynnna Harris both of PA, Drake Nix of Beaufort, SC; step-great-great-grandchildren Treyson Snyder of PA, and Ryker Robertson of Oak Hill. And many nieces and nephews, all of which loved their aunt Goldie dearly.



She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Elizabeth Riddle of Cross Lanes and a very special friend Margaret Ann Cook who has been there and helped care for her to the end.



The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the nurses, especially Courtney RN, Tammy LPN and Samantha CAN of Bowers Hospice House for the wonderful care and support given in her final days.



Services will be held at Cotton Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 12:00 noon with Pastors, Ronald Sears and Danny Sears officiating. Pallbearers will be: Bill Smith, Prentiss Moody, Brian Beach, Zachary Smith, Joshua Smith, Kaden Smith and Wyatt Trevithick.



Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 am Saturday until the time of the service.



Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park in London.
