Towne, (Newell), Grace Marie

Of Spring Arbor, Michigan went home to be with her Lord and Savior at Summit Park Assisted Living Center, Saturday, September 16, 2017, at the age of 94. Grace was the daughter of James and Winifred Newell, born December 29, 1922 in Hillsdale, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Towne; daughter, Cheryl Conrad; her parents; four brothers and one sister. Grace is survived by two daughters, Frances Fleishans and Connie Sumkowski and her soulmate, Lloyd Stimer; four grandchildren, whom she dearly loved and protected, Robert (Christina) Sumkowski Jr., Steven (Georgia) Sumkowski, Michael Conrad, & Shawn (Talitha) Conrad; son-in-law, Glen Conrad; eight great-grandchildren, Joshua, Alyssa, Karlee, Kayla, Dylan, Skyler, Drew, & Ryan; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Price; brother, Jim (Evelyn) Newell. Grace was a wonderful homemaker, and protector of her grandchildren. She loved spoiling them, and never snitched on them. She was an active Charter Member of Bethel Baptist Church. Grace enjoyed cooking, canning, known for her watermelon pickles and bread, butter pickle, and freezer jam. She also enjoyed, traveling, watching her Detroit Tigers on tv and at the stadium, watching Jeopardy and Wheel Of Fortune. She was loved by many and will be missed. A celebration of her life will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel in Jackson on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM, Pastor Leo Cumings officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery in Ransom, MI at 2:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Mid-Michigan Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, P.O. Box 4368, East Lansing, MI 48826-4368.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service.
