Gwendolyn LaFrance Storms, 94, of Bloomington past peacefully into God's arms surrounded by loving family on Saturday, April 30, 2016 in Bell Trace Health and Living. She was born July 15, 1921 in Hymera, IN to William Whitaker Purcell and Elsie Inez (Terry) Purcell.
Survivors include her son, Joseph B. Storms of Clarksville; two granddaughters, Ashley and Tiffany Storms; a sister, Melba Aynes of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph M. Storms; a son, Jerel J. Storms; two brothers, William "Bucky" Purcell and John W. Purcell; a sister, Frieda Pitha; and an infant grandson, twin to Ashley Storms.
Gwen was a member of First United Church, the Red Hat Society, the Brown County Professional Women's Association, the I.U. Varsity Club and several other professional organizations. She was also the Co-Owner of Pete & Purcell's Mayflower Moving and Storage, Library Movers of America, G & J Leasing Co. and General Cartage Co. and prior to World War II had worked at RCA.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, May 2, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St. Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 1:00 PM in First United Church, 2420 E Third St., with Rev. Dr. Jack E. Skiles officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. If friends so desire, Memorial Contributions may be made to First United Church, 2420 E Third St, Bloomington, IN 47401.
