Died November 24, 2017. Born in Tampa, FL on January 6, 1926, the son of Clarence Eugene and Elizabeth Scarlett Holtsinger. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Alma Florez Holtsinger, his brother, Clarence E. (Gene) Holtsinger; sister-in-laws, Gloria Holtsinger, Carol (Dr. Richard Blank) Florez Blank, and Flavia (Walter) Florez Preston.



He is survived by his children, Hal Holtsinger Jr., Clay A Holtsinger, Cecilia (Will) Holtsinger Martin, Mary (Dan) Holtsinger Howell; his grandchildren, Matthew (Lynsey) Holtsinger, Kyle (Jill) Holtsinger, Brittany Holtsinger, Carley Holtsinger, Daniel Howell, Allie (Stuart) Howell Kessler, Mary White Martin, Lizzie Martin, Charlie Martin; great grandchild, Quintin Holtsinger; cousins; Joan (Jim) Holtsinger Turner, Ann Holtsinger West, Edgar Holtsinger Jr.; nieces, Scarlett (Bruce) Mullin, Gretchen Holtsinger, Dr. Robin Holtsinger; nephew, Eugene (Melissa) Holtsinger.



Hal was a Catholic and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.



After graduating from Plant High School Hal enlisted in the Navy and was sent to Georgia Tech V-12 Officer Training Program. He received his commission, served a tour of duty, and then returned to Tech, graduating with a B.S. in Management, class of 1948. While at Tech he was Treasurer of the ATO Fraternity and a cartoonist for the campus magazine “Yellow Jacket”.



Hal was a co-founder and president of Hook and Holtsinger Company. He served as a director of the Second National Bank, President of the Merchants Association of Greater Tampa Bay and Charter Member and Treasurer of Interbay Rotary Club. He was a longtime member and past President of Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, and a member of the 1965 Krewe of Barbarossa.



After retirement from business he often served as an arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers, later renamed Finra.



The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kent Corral for his dedicated care of Hal and Alma.



A visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 from 5pm to 7pm at Blount Curry Macdill, 605 S. Macdill Ave Tampa. A funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Tuesday November 28, 2017 at 2PM.
