"Hoss" Harold Lewis LaRoe, 78, of Hallsville, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at University Hospital.



The family will receive friends from Noon - 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Memorial Funeral Home, where funeral services will take place at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.



Hoss was born on February 13, 1939 in Boone County the son of George Homer LaRoe and Bertha (Kile) LaRoe. He was a 1957 graduate of Hallsville High School. On October 15, 1960 in Hallsville, he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Ray, who survives at the home.



He served two years in the US Army in Fort Riley, Kansas. Hoss was employed by the University of Missouri for 36 years. He began his employment as a bus driver for the students that were handicapped. He later worked in the landscaping department where he enjoyed cutting grass. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and looked forward to the next family reunion.



Hoss is survived by his wife, a daughter, Kim (Joe) Bonnarens of Clark, one son, "Junior" (Misty) LaRoe of Hallsville, five grandchildren, Dane Bonnarens, Kara Bonnarens, Kyle Bonnarens, Quenton LaRoe, Dallas LaRoe, two brothers, Russell LaRoe of Sturgeon, John LaRoe of Fulton, one brother-in-law Billy Patterson of Arkansas and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Pearl Patterson, three brothers George, Donald and Jerry.
