Harold "Tex" Wayne Pate, 76, of Bloomington died Thursday, August 31, 2017 in I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. He was born February 7, 1941 in Bloomington to George S. Pate and Fanny Smiley Pate. He was retired from Lentz Asphalt.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon E. Pate; two daughters, Crystal (Scott) E. Duva of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Tammy (Michael) S. Ball of Bloomington; two sons, Danny W. Pate of Tucson, Arizona, and Thomas E. Pate of Indianapolis; three step sons, Allan B Barger, Harry (Barbara) Thomas Barger Jr., and Paul K. Barger all of Bloomington; one sister, Doris M Manning of Arlington, Tex. 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 44 years, Nancy Mae Wilkerson Pate; six brothers, Austin Pate, Jimmy Pate, William Pate, Samuel Pate, Oscar Pate and Wilford Crafton; three sisters, Georgianna Carpenter, Mary Agnes Barton, Christine E. Siscoe; one step son, Michael R. Barger; and two grandchildren, Allen Wayne Ball and Shaundel Pate.

Harold was a former member of Gospel Assembly Church and was now attending Paynetown Pentecostal Church. He loved to travel and had never met a stranger.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St. Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, September 7 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Cheryl Crum officiating, burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
