We wish to report the death of our dear mother, Helen Sullivan Whorton, age 93 in Tulsa, Oklahoma January 12, 2018 after a brief illness. Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, La., Saturday, January 20, 2018, from 1 P.M. till 1:45 P. M. followed by a graveside service at 2 P.M. with Bro. Harrell Shelton officiating.

Ms. Helen was preceded in death by her devoted husband, C. G. Whorton, Jr.; her parents, William Albert Sullivan and Laura Warren Sullivan of Ashland, La.; brother, Dean Sullivan of Bossier City, La. and sister; Eloise Day of Bossier City.

Ms. Helen was born on March 14, 1924 in West Feliciana Parish in Tunica La.
After graduating from the small school of Castor High School Ms. Helen found the bright lights of Shreveport and obtained work in a sandwich shop. There she met the love of her life, C. G. Whorton, Jr.
Soon thereafter they married in Caddo Parish on June 2, 1944 with Cedric Smart officiating.

They built their home in Bossier City and were married 42 years. She was a wonderful homemaker who made everyone who entered their door feel at home. Her talent for cooking made her in demand for cakes and pies for family and friends. She made candy at Christmas time for all the family and many friends for years until her health began to fail.

Helen loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Airline Baptist Church where she taught children's Sunday School for over 30 years.

Ms. Helen is survived by her children, Buck Whorton and wife Bobbie Rose Scarborough Whorton of Bossier City, La. and daughter, Mary Ann Kelsey and husband, Ron of Tulsa, Oklahoma. One granddaughter, Amanda Rose McDaniel and husband, Jimmy of Metairie, La. and one great-granddaughter, Madelyn Grace McDaniel of Metairie, La.; sister-in-laws, Catherine Sullivan, Margaret Etta Reeves, Gloria Whorton and Barbara Whorton and many nieces and nephews.

Honoring Ms. Helen as pallbearers will be Gary Don Hackman, Walter Lawrence (Buddy) Scarborough,
Tadd Goodman, Dale Bickham, Ralph Montgomery and Ryan Hadden. Honorary pallbearers are Rudolph Reeves, Billy Bickham, and Robert H. (Skip) Smith

The family suggests that donations be made to Airline Baptist Church 4007 Airline Drive Bossier City, La or to the charity of your choice.
