Helen Virginia Garrison, known by many as Nanny, 73, of Crozet, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 17, 2017.



Born on September 4, 1943, in Charlottesville, Helen was a daughter of the late Andrew George and Celia Keyton Garrison. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Hamacher; and five brothers, Andy Jr., Leonard, Herbert, Henry, and James Garrison.



Helen is survived by her loving daughters, Loretta Fewell and her husband, Sandy and Lorrie Sipe and her husband, Mike; four grandchildren who adored her, Paige Garrison, Mikey Sipe, Claire Fewell, and Corrie Fewell; and three great-grandchildren, Averie, Addy and Carter. She is also survived by her sister, Lucille G. Shifflett; four loving sister-in-laws; two grand dogs, Bulleit and Dickson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.



Helen worked for Acme Visible Records in Crozet for 31 years. Following her service there she continued working as a private nanny for the next 10 years for two special children she loved dearly, McKenzie and Pepper. Helen was a dedicated hard worker and family was the most important thing in her life. She enjoyed tending to her yard and beautiful flowers, decorating for every holiday, and listening to bluegrass and gospel music. She touched the lives of each person she met and she will be missed dearly.



A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at Teague Funeral Home. Interment and reception will follow at Mount Moriah in Whitehall.



The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the funeral home.
