Helen Marie Sentome (née Wallace) passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 in Brooklyn, New York at the age of 67.

Helen was born on April 20, 1950 in Queens, New York to Thomas Wallace and Helen née O'Hagan. She was the beloved wife of Valdemir, the devoted mother of Vladimir, Michael, Thomas, and Robert, the cherished grandmother of Theodore Sentome, and the dear sister of Thomas, Stephen, Charles, Dennis, Eileen, Sheila, and the late Michael Wallace.

Helen graduated from the Queens Hospital Center School of Nursing in 1971 as a Registered Nurse and soon after began working at the Brooklyn VA Hospital. During this time she met her husband, Valdemir Sentome, whom she married in 1978. After marrying they moved to Brazil and started a family before moving back to the United States in 1985 and setting up a home in Brooklyn, New York. She returned to work at the Brooklyn VA Hospital, went into psychology, and eventually became certified in mental health.

Helen retired from the Brooklyn VA Hospital in 1991 due to a cancer diagnosis which she fearlessly survived for over 27 years. A devoted Catholic, Helen continued to serve her community and parish by later volunteering as a Religious Program Instructor for special needs students at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Academy. Helen was eternally proud of her four sons. She was an avid reader who loved to talk and celebrate the accomplishments of her friends and family. Despite difficulties in her life she never complained and continued to shine as an unending source of strength, faith, and kindness.

Wake services were held at Marine Park Funeral Home in Brooklyn, New York between February 21 - 22 and her mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Mary Queen of Heaven Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn, New York on February 23.

Helen was laid to rest on Friday February 23, 2018 at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York. Her grandparents, Thomas Wallace and Elizabeth née Corbett, are also interred at Holy Cross Cemetery.
