Mrs. Helen Raney Land, 85, of Sumner died Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Pine Shadows Retirement Manor.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Donnie Duncan and Rev. Grady Morey will officiate.
Mrs. Land was born on September 20, 1931 in Turner County to the late Gorday and Flora Kimbro Raney. She had lived in Worth County most of her life. Mrs. Land was a homemaker who was well known for baking wedding cakes and caramel cakes. She was the Salutatorian of the Sylvester High School Class of 1948. Mrs. Land was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a former member of Terrell Baptist Church where she played the piano for many years.
Survivors include her son, Marc Land (Faye) of Shingler; daughter, Nancy L. McKemie (Ray) of Pelham; grandchildren, Rebecca Jane McKemie, Amanda Land Hendricks (Steven) and Heather Land Dupree (Ray); great grandchildren, Elliott Raney Hendricks and Hazel Marie Dupree; sister-in-law, Rebecca Terry of Tifton; aunt, Edith Lumpkin of Shingler, and a number of cousins.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Land was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin D. "Marcus" Land on November 27, 2011.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home.
