Helen Rowell, 90, of Albany died Sunday at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House. Born in Roseburg to George and Achsa (Davenport) Wilson, Helen grew up riding her horses on Mt. Nebo in Roseburg and attended Roseburg schools. She married Jack Rowell in 1949 in Roseburg and together they raised racehorses. Through Willing Workers, she was able to help raise funds for periodic improvements to the Palestine Church. While in Redmond Helen was a member of the Redmond Saddle Club. Survivors include sons John of John Day, Bob of Florence, Dan of Stayton, Mike of Lebanon, and Jim of Albany; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
