Helena "Helen" Brown walked on January 13, 2018 at the age of 94. She was born on October 21, 1923 in Hockerville, Oklahoma to Ruby Etta Woodall. Helen moved from Hockerville to Phoenix in November of 1947. She worked as a secretary for the Boy Scouts office in Phoenix before moving on to the K-Mart Corporation. She went on to work for K-Mart as food manager for 29 years until her retirement in 1988. Helen was very strong in her faith and quite active in her church. She visited shut-ins both in the hospital and at home, transporting people to and from church and helping out wherever she was needed. Helen loved to crochet, always sharing her afghans with others. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, cousin, and friend. A member of the Valley of the Sun Cherokees, and registered with the Cherokee Nation, she was honored as an elder by the nation. Helen will greatly be missed by all those whose lives she touched and she will always be remembered in their hearts. She is survived by her daughters, Etta Hatfield (Jack) and Paula Dvorak (Raymond), 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Ernest Hopper, her daughter Juanita Friesner, and her grandson Charles Friesner. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 with visitation at 1 PM followed by service at 2 PM both held at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ.
