Henry F. Carlsen, 88, a 28 year resident of Avon Lake, formerly of Sheffield Lake, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018. He was born July 7, 1929 in Mineola, New York to parents Alf and Olga (nee Romaneck) Carlsen.
Henry graduated from the Carnegie Institute of Technology where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Henry proudly served in the United States Army and Navy. He worked for U.S. Steel, retiring after 33 years. Henry is famous for his ink drawings of area churches, libraries, St. Thomas School and his editorial cartoons for (Carnegie Tech) Carnegie Mellon University School Paper. He thoroughly enjoyed bowling, dancing and fishing. He was a member of St. Joseph Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Theta Xi Fraternity.
Henry is survived by his wife Margaret; sons Robert "Bob" (Ivy), Rudolf "Rudy" and Eric (Brenda); daughters Rebecca "Becky" Jacobs (Bill), Lynn Mey (Jeff) and Lori DeMonia (Matt); Marge's children, sons Steve Postich (Wendy), Kevin Postich (Barb), Shawn Postich (Molly) and Shane Postich; daughters Kathy Nace, Mary Clark (Chuck), Anne Postich (Carole Downes) and sister-in-law Mary Weishaar; 35 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Henry in death is his first wife Betty (nee Steinen); infant son and parents Alf and Olga (nee Romaneck) Carlsen.
