Henry, a retired computer engineer and 54-year resident of Phoenix, AZ, passed away October 1 at the age of 95. As a World War II Veteran, he embodied all the qualities of the greatest generation.
Henry is survived by his daughter Pamela (Stephen), his grandson Devin, and his beloved dog Jacques. He is predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy, parents Fred and Edith, brothers Ted and Robert, and sister Marion.
Henry was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on May 2, 1922, to Fred and Edith Gardner. He graduated from Strong Vincent High School and entered the Navy in the Fall of 1944 and earned the rank of Electronic Technician's Mate, Second Class. He attended Pennsylvania State University and graduated in 1952 with a degree in Engineering. On August 25, 1952, he married Dorothy, later joined General Electric and enjoyed a long career both domestically and internationally as an engineer.
Henry was a devoted father and grandfather, and credited his long daily walks with his dog for his good health and longevity. He was a pilot, rock hound, coin collector, WW II enthusiast, Phoenix Suns fan, storyteller, and enjoyed traveling. He always had a positive outlook and kind heart and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors, and all who knew him.
A service is scheduled for 10:30am on November 10 at the National Memorial Cemetery in Cave Creek, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arizona Humane Society in Henry's honor, and condolences may be offered at www.almoore-grimshaw.com
