Herbert L. 'Herb' Marks, Sr., 67, of the Savannah Lakes Community, husband of Sharon A. Marks, went to be the Lord on Thursday, December 01, 2016, at his residence. He was born in Alexandria, VA to the late Herbert Jasper Marks and Elizabeth Lucille Marks. Herb was a 1975 graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and retired from the Intel Corporation in Maryland. Herb was a Scout Master of Troop 1404 in Dahlgren, VA, a Lifetime Member of the Virginia Jaycees and Stonewall Lodge #124 in Troy, SC. He was also a member of the York Rite in Greenwood, SC, the Jamil Shriners International, the Red Fez Shrine Club in McCormick, SC and the Tennessee Squire Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Eugene Marks. Herb is survived by his wife of 46 years of the home; a son, Lee Marks and his wife, Veronica 'Ronnie' of Simpsonville, SC; a sister, Carolyn L. Byers of Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Dan K. Marks of Stafford, VA; grandchildren, Jacob and Riley Bratton of Simpsonville, SC; and loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 11:00AM – 12:00PM, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Buffalo Baptist Church, 3699 Hwy. 28N, McCormick, SC 29835. Funeral services will begin at 12:00PM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Sid Emory and Rev. Ryan Eklund officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic and Military rites. Pallbearers will be members of the Red Fez Shrine Club. The family is at the home. Memorial contributions, in memory of Herb, may be sent to Buffalo Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 325, McCormick, SC 29835.
