LOUDON - Herbert Brewster Huckins Jr., 68, of Loudon, passed away June 24th, 2017. He was the son of Herbert and Evelyn (Newcomb) Huckins. He grew up in Boscawen and graduated from Concord High School.

Herb was kind and generous with an easy sense of humor, sharing his time and talents with many. He served as Trustee to the Maxfield Public Library, coached youth basketball, and was a frequent blood donor. He was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Herb spent many happy hours in his workshop making furniture, working with cars and especially tinkering with boats. He loved the sentiment expressed in The Wind in the Willows: "There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."

He worked for Chubb, Jefferson Pilot and Lincoln Financial for many years where he transitioned from programming into business and technical analyst roles. His innate ability to communicate and connect with everyone was always appreciated.

Herb was preceded in death by his father Herbert Sr. and brother Douglas. He is survived by his mother Evelyn of Boscawen, wife Nancy, son Jeremy of Hanover, and siblings Bradley of Kittery, ME, Patricia Huckins (David Vaughn) of Greenville ME, Tammy Huckins (Colleen) of Largo, FL, Donna Silver (Chris) of Salisbury. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Sherry Leveque (Donald) and Deborah Ford (Ken Gilfillan) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He is greatly loved by all.

A celebration of Herb's life will take place on Thursday June 29th, 2017 at East Congregational Church, 51 Mountain Rd, Concord, NH. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00AM. There will be a memorial service immediately following from 11:00AM-12:00PM.

Memorial donations may be made to Maxfield Public Library, 8 NH-129, Loudon, NH 03307.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Bennett Funeral Home of Concord.
