Herbert (Bob) George Matthews, beloved brother, uncle and friend died on Sunday, August 6, 2017. He was born in Kingston Jamaica, on September 25, 1932 to Ivy Brazilana Johnson-Dennis and Anthony Matthews. He migrated to England where he resided for more than a decade before coming to the USA . He retired from the University of Hartford after 30 years of service, & was recognized for his exemplary work ethics, dedication and team spirit. He was a member of Sportsman's Athletic Club and Sliver Springs Shores Cricket & Social Club. Bob's love for his family motivated him to assume the responsibility of sponsoring many of them to migrate to the UK & the United States. He was predeceased by his mother & stepfather Ivy & Rupert Dennis & his brother Clifford Johnson. He will be missed by his brother & sisters, Robert Dennis, Yvonne (Allan) King, Dorette (Wayne,) Hypolite, Angela (Mike) Begley, Theresa (Denis) Brown, a special companion Jo Robinson, devoted friends Mr & Mrs Roy White, neice Cynthia Holness who tirelessly gave of herself, many other special nieces & nephews in the USA & the UK, and a host of friends in Hartford, CT & Ocala FL. Special thanks to his all his friends at the Silver Springs Shores Cricket & Social Club for their tremendous support. Bob was a very easy going person & enjoyed life to the fullest. He spent his retirement years travelling, supporting his cricket team & enjoying a good competitive game of domino. Bob may not be here with us physically but will live in our hearts forever. Arrangements is entrusted to Carmon Windsor Funeral Home. His family will receive friends Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 9-10 AM at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor followed by funeral services at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment immediately following in Mountain View Cemetery, 30 Mountain Avenue, Bloomfield.
