Herman was born on May 23, 1918 and passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

Herman was a resident of Vineland, New Jersey at the time of passing.

After graduating from Vineland High School, he would go on to attend Washington State University in Pullman, WA, where he played football, medaled in wrestling, and trained horses.

Herman then joined the United States Army where he trained with the Tuskegee Airmen at the Tuskegee Army Air Field in Tuskegee, AL, before transferring to the infantry where he served as a Lieutenant in the 365th Infantry, 92nd Division as part of the famed "Buffalo Soldiers." Initially stationed in the Po Valley in North Italy, Herman and his fellow servicemen would go on to battle German and Italian troops in the Serchio River Valley and along the coast near the city of Massa, ultimately liber.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Herman's name to the NJVMH Activity Fund, 524 Northwest Boulevard, Vineland NJ 08360.
