Herman Fritz Gordemann, age 87, a lifetime resident of Harper Woods, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 in Grosse Pointe. Herman was born on Sunday, December 21, 1930 in Detroit to Frederick and Herta Gordemann. After graduating high school Herman earned his bachelor's degree and went on to work for Chrysler as a vehicle designer. While Herman wasn't at work he could certainly be found at the gym or the weight room. He was a dedicated and accomplished body builder. Herman loved training and preparing for competitions. In his efforts he was awarded many distinct titles. He earned the title of "Mr. USA" in 1936, runner-up in the 1939 "Mr. Universe" competition, "Mr. Detroit" in 1941 and proudly "Mr. Vic Tanny" in 1943. After a long career at Chrysler he retired in 1973. Herman enjoyed spending time outside and soaking up the sunshine. He shopped weekly at Nino Salvaggio's Market in St. Clair Shores on Harper Avenue. Herman loved animals, especially his Dobermans, Josh and Heinz. He was an loyal supporter of the Michigan Humane Society. Herman leaves behind his dear daughter, Kimberly Gordemann. His nieces, Cheryl (Kent) Weisman and Eleanor (Dwight) Little. In Herman's memory memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Michigan Humane Society. Arrangements are entrusted to the A. H.
