Herman Morris, son of James Houston and Ella Florence Morris and Amanda Herring, left this world to be with the Lord on March 7, 2017. He died peacefully at home in the presence of his family. He was born on October 19, 1929, at Simmons Gap, Rockingham County, Va.



He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Stella “Lorean” Morris; daughters, Vegina Gibson and husband, Glen of Charlottesville, Va., and Kimberly Radcliffe and husband, Richard of Orange, Va.; grandsons, Christopher Gibson of Charlottesville, Va., and Justin Gibson and wife, Jessica of Greene County, Va.; granddaughters, Kimberly Gibson of Charlottesville, Va., and Heather and Megan Radcliffe of Orange, Va.; great granddaughter, Rebecca Gibson of Greene County, Va.; brother-in-law, Clarence Morris and wife, Joyce of Crozet, Va.; and sister-in-law, Selma Bailey of Crozet, Va. He was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry Morris, Wilbert Morris, Perry Morris, Robert Lawson, Dennis Herrold, and Daniel Herring; sisters, Cora Shifflett, Minnie Morris, Annie Lee Crawford, Mattie Morris, Julia Shifflett, Barbara Moneymaker, Georgia Herring, Margaret Huffman, Grace Heatwole, Nellie Hayne, Lucy Batten, and Rosa Herring; and in-laws, Lanie and Carrie Morris.



He worked for the Nelson Company, Sparrows Point, Md. until 1958, and Southern Welding, Charlottesville, Va. until mid 1960’s. He retired from Virginia Department of Transportation after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Eheart Pentecostal Church, Eheart, Va. for over 42 years.



A graveside funeral service will take place on Friday, March 10, 2017, at 1 p.m., at Mt. Plain Cemetery, 1345 Browns Gap Tpk. Charlottesville, VA 22901, officiated by Pastor Ronald Sipe.



The family would like to extend their appreciation to Hospice of the Piedmont and staff, Amy, Joy, and Lynn and granddaughters, Heather Radcliffe and Kimberly Gibson for their loving care.
