Hertha was born on November 30, 1916, the first of four daughters born to Julius and Pauline Wentzel. She was baptized on December 7, 1916 at Bethel Lutheran Church. Her baptismal scripture is Matthew 28:19-20. She attended Bethel Lutheran School, was confirmed on April 13, 1930 and graduated from East Commerce High School in 1934. Her confirmation scripture is 2 Timothy 2:8. Following graduation she worked as a secretary/stenographer for an attorney and later on in life held other secretarial positions with Montgomery Wards and GAF Corporation. Hertha met her future husband, Frank, on or about New Year's Eve of 1937. They were married on September 23, 1939 and had 62 years of marriage. They had four children: Roger, Janice and twin boys, Donald and Dennis. Their first home was on Lappin Avenue in Detroit where they raised their family and lived for 48 years. Frank and Hertha then moved to their second home on Roselawn in Warren in August of 1989. Hertha continued to reside in her Roselawn home since that time. She lived a full life raising her family, being involved in church and high school related activities and actively drove until the age of 95. She was a member of East Bethlehem Lutheran Church for 64 years. Her relationship with God and her Savior Jesus has always been a very important part of her life. She dearly missed not being able to attend church weekly this past year. Hertha was preceded in death by her husband Frank (12-7-2001); her son Dennis (1-17-1995); her three sisters Ruth, Zita, and Edna, and many other family and friends. She is survived by her children Roger (Gail), Janice Terey, and Donald (Cheryl); four grandchildren, Melissa (Dan) Maliskey, Nathan (Lauren) Terey, Rebecca (Brian) Dinko, and Jonathan (Melanie) Terey; and one great-granddaughter, Samantha Carroll. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 2-9 pm at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Rd., Clinton Township, Michigan. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11 am (Instate at 10 am) at East Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 3510 Outer Dr. E, Detroit, Michigan. Interment will take place at Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorials to East Bethlehem Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
