Hiag Chongoushian, lifetime resident of Wood-Ridge, passed away on February 8, 2018 at the age of 89. Hiag was born in raised in Wood-Ridge, in the same house he lived in his entire life. He was proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served for two years. After coming home from the Navy, he began his career as a photo engraver, ending his career at Pioneer-Moss in New York City. After retiring he worked as a crossing guard. Hiag enjoyed many hobbies such as a love of antique cars, photography, and history. He will be remembered as someone that was well liked by all who met him and a loyal friend. Survived by his beloved wife Olga, of 58 years. Devoted father of Richard (Nancy) and John (Mary). Dear grandfather to Christina, Jessica, and Amanda. Cherished brother of Isabell Scully. Visitation will be held on Monday February 12, 2018 at St. Leon Armenian Church, 12-61 Saddle River Road in Fair Lawn from 9:30AM to 10:30AM. Funeral service will follow at 10:30AM. Interment following to George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington, D.C. 20090.
