COLUMBIA - A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Hilda Eckbauer Clark, 92, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with visitation following until 6 p.m.
Mrs. Clark died Friday, April 7, 2017. Born in Esternberg, Austria (AUT), she was a daughter of the late Johann Eckbauer and Katharina Hinterleithner Eckbauer. She met her husband, David Lee Clark, when he was stationed in Linz, AUT after WWII. They settled in Martinsville, Va. after his discharge from the Army. They moved to Columbia in 1972, and she worked for Burnette Cleaners as a seamstress. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Joseph Santiago (Inge) of Kathleen, Ga., Richard Santiago (Becky) of Tyrone, Ga., Veronica Kemp (Mike) of Taylors, S.C., Sandra Santiago of Columbia, Debra Santiago of Greer, S.C., Christie Blair of Blair, S.C.,
Sieglinde Schmeid and Franz Pichler (Regine) of Scharding, AUT, and Josef Eckbauer of Linz, AUT; and numerous great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband and her sisters, Kate Pichler and Hermine Santiago.
