Canton- Hilda Stevenson Hannah, age 86, of 164 Hannah Farm Road, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015 at her residence. A native of Oconee County, South Carolina and a resident of Haywood County for most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Harley and Argyle Leatherwood Stevenson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie B. Hannah, who died in 2009; her sister, Clara Yost; two brothers, Lloyd and Clyde Stevenson. Hilda was a 1945 graduate of Clyde High School and played on the basketball team. Her church and church family of Clyde First Baptist Church was a meaningful part of her life where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She and her late husband owned and operated Medford Farm Grocery for many years. Hilda was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her grandchildren playing in their numerous sporting events. She is survived by two daughters, Terry Smith and her husband, John, of Canton and Charlene Dickert and her husband, Earl, of Pomaria, SC; two brothers, Cecil "Cotton" Stevenson and his wife, Connie, of Clyde and Wayne Stevenson of Hayesville; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Stevenson and Evelyn Smith both of Clyde; five grandchildren, John Smith, Jr. and his wife, Jessica, Lisa Stinnett, Jason Smith and his wife, Laura, Whitney Hill and her husband, David, and Justin Dickert and his wife, Crystal; and seven great-grandchildren, Jerod and Lexie Stinnett, Alyssa and Alex Smith, Bennett Smith, Hannah Hill, and Charlie Dickert. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Clyde First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. T. David Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The pallbearers will be her grandson's and nephews, John Smith, Jr., Jason Smith, Jerod Stinnett, Justin Dickert, David Hill, Keith Stevenson, Bruce Stevenson, and Bill Burnette. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clyde First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 356, Clyde, NC 28721.
