Ho Po Cheung Shui was born in Shanghai, China on July 19, 1918. She had two brothers and one sister.

She was introduced to her husband, C.C. Chang in Shanghai, and they got married in 1939 when she was 21 years old. Their first son, Yu Lung, was born in 1940. They had four more sons, William, Richard, Eric, George, and youngest daughter Joyce.

Ho Po and her family were granted permission to leave the People’s Republic of China and moved to Hong Kong in 1949. It was in Hong Kong that she raised her kids until they immigrated to the United States in August, 1974.

In 1975, she started working at The Ramada Inn in Rosslyn, Virginia in the housekeeping department for 15 years. This is where she learned English and Spanish, and mastered the art of hospital corners.

Her favorite past time activities were mahjong, Hong Kong soap operas, and knitting, but she loved nothing more than spending time with her family, with a nice cold glass of beer in hand. She also loved to travel and enjoyed car rides (short or long) chauffeured by her kids and grandkids.

Ho Po leaves behind 5 sons, 1 daughter, 5 daughters-in-law, 1 son-in-law, 17 grandchildren, 12 grandchildren-in-law, 20 great grandchildren, 3 nieces, and happy memories to be cherished forever.
