Bruce Holbrook left the living on Sunday September the 18th at his home peacefully. Bruce lived a long and productive life in his 93 years on this earth and was the last of 6 siblings.
Bruce was born at home in 1924 at a house on Boston Post Rd near Christies diner in Westbrook Ct. He was a life long resident of Westbrook as were three generations before him. He did leave the family business of marine construction for World War II and again for the Korean conflict serving on 6 destroyers in total in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of war. He also mothballed destroyers at the cessation of World War II and returned some of the same ships to active duty for the Korean conflict. Bruce's last business adventure was the marina by the singing bridge in Westbrook, CT that he operated with brother's Bob and Alan.
Bruce actively enjoyed boats and boating from maintaining them to designing and building them and especially enjoyed steamboats and had one in progress in his yard. Up until a few years ago Bruce and Wilma maintained a cottage on Little Bear Island located centrally in Lake Winnipesauke NH.
Bruce will be missed for his perpetual wit and everyone who met him always said what a nice guy. A graveside service will be held for him as he had wished at 2 pm on Sat Oct 1st at The Cypress Cemetery in Westbrook.
