Horace I. (Buddy) Bomar, Jr., 88, of Merritt Island, FL, passed away on October 31, 2017.
Buddy was born in Wartrace, TN on January 20th, 1929. He attended Wartrace High
School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State University. He also served in the Tennessee State Guard and the U.S. Army.
Buddy was married to Jennie Walker Bomar on July 3rd, 1948; they were married 69 years.
Buddy worked in the aerospace industry as a mechanical engineer for 39 years, all with Morton-Thiokol. His career began in Huntsville, AL, and then in the Elkton, MD division where he worked for 25 years. The family lived in Newark, DE from 1955 until 1980, when he transferred to the Kennedy Space Center, where he retired in 1991. Buddy enjoyed fishing, woodworking, board games, cooking and travel.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Jennie Walker Bomar, son Horace I. Bomar, 3rd and his wife
Francine of Ann Arbor, MI; daughter Lynne Bomar Halleran and her husband Kevin of Lithia, FL; granddaughters Jennifer Bomar Kellogg and her husband Paul of Denver, CO; Laura Bomar Eiszner and her husband Jim and great-granddaughter Quinn Evelyn Eiszner of Edmond, OK.
Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, Horace I. Bomar, Sr. & Belle Sharrock Bomar, half brothers Glenn Arnold and Wade Arnold, half sisters Laura Arnold Beck, Juanita Bomar Hardison and Ira Bomar Arnold.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Grace United Methodist Church in Merritt Island, FL 32952. A memorial service will be held in Tennessee at a later date.
