Howard Koontz, 74, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away Friday, June 3, 2016. He was born January 6, 1942 in Monroe County, Indiana the son of the late Clyde and Edna Koontz.
Howard was a Vietnam Army Veteran. He was a mechanic but he retired from General Electric. He enjoyed NASCAR, sports, fishing, hunting, camping and the outdoors. He was an avid Indiana University basketball fan who also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his sister-in-law's. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Glenda Koontz; his three sons, Roger Koontz and his wife Melody, Tracy Koontz and his wife Judy, and Michael Koontz and his wife Kim; his three grandchildren, Brittany, Justin, and Dakota; his four great-grandchildren, Bryce, Brayden, Blake, and Brentley; and numerous brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Winford, James, Esther, and Isabel.
Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2016 at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third Street. The Monroe County Veterans Honor Guard will perform military funeral rites. A Memorial visitation will be held prior to the memorial service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
