Howard Raymond "Bill" Bain, 83, Martinsville, passed from this life on May 6, 2012 at 1:35 am at The Waters of Martinsville.

He was born January 4, 1929 in Mooresville, Indiana to the late Howard Russell Bain and Juanita (Perry) Bain Dowden.

Mr. Bain enlisted into the US Army January 3, 1951, serving in the 25th Infantry Division during the Korean War. He was of Christian faith and was a lifetime member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1259 and the American Legion Post 230.

He married Elizabeth E. "Bette" Bain on December 24th, 1952; she preceded him in death on March 31st, 2002.

He was a retired machinist at Harmon-Motive in Martinsville for over 20 years.

He leaves behind his loving family of one son, Jared Ray Bain of Martinsville; two daughters, Janda S. Bain (Glen E. Bumpus) of Bloomington, IN and Jennifer D. Gilley (husband, Robert) of Martinsville; former son-in-law, Jeff Troxel of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Louise Smith of Mooresville, IN; grandchildren, Justin and Eric Herrington, Tim and Jessica Troxel and Susan Murray and great grandchildren, Daylan and Wyatt Troxel, Logan Pommier, Zachary and Taylor White and MaKayla and Cameron Murray.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother, Clarence Richard "Dick" Bain.

Friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, May 8th from 5-8 pm and Wednesday, May 9th from 12:30-1:30 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center, Martinsville. A celebration of life service to be officiated by Rev. Pat Davis will begin at 1:30 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1257, Veterans Unmet Needs, 850 State Road 39, Martinsville, IN 46151.
