Howard W. Silverblatt, age 64, of McHenry, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at JourneyCare Hospice Care Center, surrounded by his family. Howard was born April 22, 1953 to Charles "Chuck" and Ellen Silverblatt. Howard grew up in Palatine, Illinois with his siblings, Tom (Linda) Silverblatt, Sue (Bob) McCorkle, and Tara. He married Peggy (McKinney) in 1988, and settled in McHenry to start his family. Howard was strong in family, faith, and community, and committed himself to being involved in his children's activities. Howard was involved in youth Boy Scouts and Indian Princesses; he attended all his children's sporting events and concerts, and he volunteered at church and school. Howard worked at SCOR Re and scheduled all travel around his children's activities. Above all, Howard loved his family. Howard is survived by his loving, caring wifeof 29 years, Peggy; his children, Scott and Kimberly (Andy) Strombach; his brother and sisters; and his mother and father. A memorial visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 N. Green Street, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral service will be at 12 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorials to Multiple System Atrophy Research at defeatmsa.org, or to The JourneyCare Foundation, 2050 Claire Court, Glenview, IL 60025.
