Howell E Stone, 90, of Pasadena passed away February 2, 2017 peacefully at home. Howell was born in Rusk County, Texas. He graduated from Pasadena High School, class of 1943. He received his undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Mexico followed by a Bachelor of Law, from the University of Denver. Howell retired from The United States Navy as Lt. Commander. He was a member of The American Bar Association, Attorney and Counselor of The United States Court of Military Appeals, Attorney and Counselor of Law in The State of Colorado, and Attorney and Counselor of Law in the State of Texas.



Howell returned to Pasadena after completing active duty service in the US Navy in 1955. He went on to become Assistant District Attorney of Harris County from 1955 to 1962. Later, he became an attorney in private practice in Houston from 1962 until he retired in 1991. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Pasadena.



Howell leaves his cherished wife of 68 years, Julia Stone and his sons, David and his wife Charlene of Huntsville, AL; Paul and Jacklyn of Martinez, GA; Daniel and Deanna of Taft, TN and Thomas and Leanne of Pasadena TX. His sisters are Kathryn Horn of Grant, OK and Linda Stone of Austin, TX. He leaves six grandchildren, and 4 great granddaughters.



He is preceded in death by his son Timothy E, parents Leva and Carrie Stone, sisters Jacquelyn Stone, Alice Kyser, Shirley Bonner, and Gayle Kindle.



A memorial service for Howell will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017, 11:00am at First United Methodist Church of Pasadena located at 1062 Fairmont Pkwy Pasadena, TX 77504. A reception at the church will follow.
