Huston V. Macy, 86, of Bloomington went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. He was born July 9, 1930 in Hardinsburg, Kentucky to Alfred Owen Macy, Sr. and Lucy R. LeGran Macy.
Survivors include his wife, SueAnna Macy of Bloomington; one daughter, Lavere Montgomery (husband Dale) of Marion, Illinois; one son, Dennis Macy (wife Barbara) of Bloomington; two step children, John A. Fredericksen and Katherine Weil (husband Mark); five grandchildren, Karen Sue Jones (husband Randy), Josh Macy (wife Kristen), Jake Macy (wife Brittany) and Sebastian and Sophie Weil ; four great grandchildren, Zachary and Elijah Jones and Brody and Mallory Macy; and several nieces and nephews.
Huston was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Myrl "Carol" Macy; one sister, Anna F. Clifton; two brothers, A. O. Macy, Jr. and Lowell Z. Macy; and grandson, Randy Montgomery.
Huston was a proud veteran who spent 26 years in the U.S. Air Force. While serving his country he spent time in occupied Japan after World War II, did two tours of Korea during the Korean War and one tour of duty in Vietnam. After his retirement from the Air Force he went on to work at NWSC Crane as a security specialist. Eventually accepting a position at Indiana University as housing manager for several of the residence halls and retiring from Read Center after 19 years.
After his retirement from Indiana University Huston spent time working for the Gentry Construction Corporation in addition to maintaining a long list of clientele which he did home repairs for.
Memberships include; Northside Christian Church, VFW Post 604, American Legion, Burton Woolery Post 18, the Masonic Lodge in Philpott, Kentucky, York Rite, and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a 30 year member of the U.S. Airforce Enlistees Association. He was also a former member and deacon of New Union Baptist Church.
Huston enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting, and fishing. He loved his Lord and Savior, his family and Kentucky Basketball.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 6:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St, with Pastor Michael Dodge officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. If friends so desire, Memorial Contributions may be made to The Gideon's International, P. O.
