Ida Maria Veltri, 91, of Weirton died Tuesday May 16, 2017, at the Weirton Medical Center. Born on December 3, 1925, in Calabria, Italy, Ida was a daughter of the late Angelo and Carmela Perone Stella. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Veltri in 1973; her brothers, Peppino, Eugenio, Amedeo, and Nevio Stella; and her sisters, Philomena, Rosaria Piemonde, and Maria Magnone. After her husband John passed away, Ida worked as a certified nurse’s aide at the Weirton Geriatric Center to support her family. She retired in 1996. A very religious lady, Ida prayed the rosary every morning and every night. She enjoyed tending to her garden, cooking and was an avid reader. Most of all Ida cherished time spent with her family. She is survived by her son, Rinaldo Veltri (Melissa) of Weirton, WV; her daughter, Aurora Pulice (Albert) of Burgettstown, PA; step son, Alfonso Veltri (Helga) of Jersey City, NJ; step daughter, Josie Peller (Stanley) of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Medoro Stella of Weirton, WV; grandchildren, Rachel Veltri and Dante and Isabella Pulice; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Rev. Fr. Dennis J. Schuelkens, Jr. will preside. Interment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Weirton.
