Ida Tappero Andrade passed away peacefully at 102 years of age at her home in Santa Clara on January 9, 2018. Ida was born in Frontier Wyoming on June 2, 1915 to Peter and Carolina (Erio) Tappero who had both immigrated to the United States from Piedmont, Italy. There were four children in the family and her father worked in the local coalmines. The family eventually moved to California in search of warmer weather due to her father's health concerns. Ida and her sister Lee opened their own beauty salon, Ida Le' on the Alameda in San Jose in the 1940's. She met Clarence Andrade at a local dance and in 1946 they married after his military service in WWII. Ida and Clarence built a home in Santa Clara and raised three children along with a variety dogs, cats and canaries over the years. Ida enjoyed cooking in her kitchen, which was her domain and took great pride in her home. Ida and Clarence took several trips during their retirement years including Hawaii, Portugal and Spain. However, they mainly enjoyed their numerous camping and fishing trips well into their 80's with Ida often "out fishing" Clarence. She loved lunches out with her children and shopping trips up to several weeks before she passed. Ida had an amazing memory and to the end of her life never forgot the birthdays of all of her eleven great grandchildren. Her husband Clarence preceded Ida in death. She is survived by her three children Rod (Anne) Andrade, Gail (Harry) Andrade Ahlas and Barbara (Rick) Thayer along with six grandchildren, Peter (Tiffany) Andrade, Matt (Ilbret,) Andrade, Nathan (Sarah) Heinrich, Meghan (Lars) Jorgensen, Mitchell (Raleigh Seamster) Heinrich and Erin (Alex) George and eleven great grandchildren, Gavin, Jonathan, Amelia, Elliot, Jackson, Kieran, Declan, Ciana, Delta, Cormac and Brayden. Our family would like to express sincere gratitude to Kolinia Malua for her six years of loyal care to our parents. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 1PM at St. Clare Church, 941 Lexington St., Santa Clara.
