Ida Vivian Riley DeLapp was born in Mendon, MO, December 9, 1927. She was the youngest of two children of Charles and Susie Riley.

She attended Jordon County School on 24 Highway near Brunswick, MO. She was a very popular girl at Brunswick High School and graduated with a class of about twelve other seniors in 1945.

She met her future husband, George H. DeLapp, a career Army man, after he was repatriated from a Japanese POW camp and returned to his hometown of Brunswick. They both loved to dance, and indeed met at a local dance. They were married February 20, 1946 in Brunswick.

As an Army wife, Vivian helped move the household and family numerous times in her 53 years of marriage. She had four children, all of whom survive her: Toni M. (Mickey) Rabeneck and her husband Ken of Parkville, MO; George T. (Terry) DeLapp of Warsaw, MO; Debra Sue (Debi) Moore and her husband Bill of Platte County, MO; and James R. (Jim) DeLapp and his wife Dee of Evergreen, CO.

She enjoyed her grandchildren Christa Jones, Ken Rabeneck Jr., Regan DeLapp and Morgan DeLapp. She also enjoyed her other ‘grandchildren’, Bill Moore’s children, Justin Moore and Kari Connell.

She had four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Vivian loved traveling her whole life, and visited almost all areas of our country during her marriage and after the passing of her husband, George. She was an active member of the local Missouri Chapter of the American Ex-Prisoners of War.

She will always be loved, missed and remembered by her entire family.
