Criggall, Irene passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the age of 102. Irene was a loving mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband and grandson Lenny Retske, she is survived by her sons James (Wanda) and Brian Criggall and daughter Karen Spencer; grandchildren Jennifer (Erin) Taylor, Corene Darby, Stephanie Marsillett, Kelly Burcham, Tracey (Greg) Moyer, Brian (Casey) Criggall and Alan Retske; 17 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Canada, Irene later became a naturalized American citizen making Kettering her home. Irene was a faithful employee of the University of Dayton and as Assistant Registrar was instrumental in developing the current registration system and collaborating with NCR to bring the University online. In honor of her dedication to the University, Irene was initiated into the Alpha Epsilon Delta International Premedical Honor Society. She was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Kettering Seniors Club. Irene dedicated countless hours throughout the years to make positive changes in her community and communities around the world. She was a 20-year volunteer of Hipple Cancer Research Center and received the 2003 Montgomery County Volunteer of the Year Award. Irene was a founding member and officer of the Kettering Pilot International Club and was featured in Who's Who Women in Business. Irene loved to travel and saw much of the world including trips around the United States and Europe. She was an avid Reds fan and enjoyed golf, playing cards and knitting.
