Our dear Iris Lily Hunt passed away on Monday, March 23rd, 2015 at her home at the Seasons Retirement Community. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Sidney in January of 2015. Iris will be dearly missed by her brother, Dennis Potter and also by Phyllis Mutch (Don) and Barbara Hunt (Clifford, deceased), her sisters in law. Her nephews Aaron and Alan Eidt and their wives, Susan and Sharree, Paul Mutch (Monique) and David Hunt and her nieces, Susan Eidt, Kathy Pendergast, Brenda Vandersanden (Rob), Jean Carson and April Mann (Carl) will all miss her greatly. She was loved by many great nieces and nephews as well. Iris was born in Essex, England on February 13th, 1923 to George and Helen Potter. She was educated there to the diploma level and finished Business College. Iris was very accomplished in the business field and joined the British Army in 1942, serving during WW II and until 1947. She was awarded the British Empire Medal for her work on the investigation and closing of the German Penemunde Rocket project. Iris came to Canada in 1947 where she met Sidney and they were married in 1949. They were devoted to each other for 65 years. Iris was a wonderful support to Sidney as they lived in Canada, Venezuela, Belgium and then Cincinnati. Iris was an accomplished, dynamic, kind and gracious lady, loved by her family and many friends. She will be missed. Cremation has taken place by Gilligan's Funeral Home and a Memorial Service will be held at the Courtyard at Seasons Retirement Community, 7100 Dearwester Drive, Cincinnati on Tuesday. March 31st, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Donations to the University of Cincinnati may be made in lieu of flowers.
