Isabel Louise (Kendall) Lane of Spofford, NH died on October 10, 2017 at the age of 97, following a period of failing health. Born in Keene on February 25, 1920, she was the daughter of Harold and AnnaBelle (Forsyth) Kendall and has resided in the Keene and Spofford area for her entire life. She was very proud of her Scottish ancestry.

Isabel graduated from Keene High School, class of 1938, where she sang in the A Cappella choir. While at Keene High School, she wrote the class ode which was later set to music by Dino Houpis.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Keene, and had been a past treasurer of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Aux. in Keene and past president of Wheelock PTA.

She was married to Attorney Howard B. Lane Sr. who died April 11, 1981 she is also predeceased by her brother, Harold J. Kendall and a sister Ada K. Parker.

Survivors include her sons, Howard B. Lane Jr. and his wife Elaine of Spofford, and Kendall W. Lane and his wife Molly of Keene; three grandchildren, Gretchen Gordon Lane of Milton, MA, Matthew Wilder Lane of Wellesley, MA and Isabel Jennings Lane of Keene; four step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, Caroline Lane, Emily Lane and Madeline Lane and Ryan Lane; two nephews; a dear friend, Louise M. Toomey; and her devoted caregiver, Gerardo Lopez of Florida.

There will be a private service at the family lot in the Woodland Cemetery in Keene. The Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, is in charge of the arrangements. It has been requested that gifts be made in memory of Mrs. Lane to the Monadnock Region Humane Society, 101 W Swanzey Rd, Swanzey, NH 03446.
