Isla Stack Hunter passed away on March 16, 2017 at the age of 81. She was born July 9, 1935 in Wilmington, NC and grew up in Atlanta since the age of 4. She attended Druid Hills high school in Decatur and graduated from Emory University with a degree in Psychology. After college, she worked as a personnel assistant in the Human Resources department at C&S Bank. After working at C&S for 12 years, she decided to be a stay-at-home mom. She was very active in her church. She participated in the women’s circle, altar guild and the Hope Sunday School class at Oak Grove UMC. She volunteered for many events at Oak Grove, and she enjoyed volunteering weekly at the United Methodist Children’s Home. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Cason Hunter, Jr., and her parents, N.C. and Isla Johnston Stack. She is survived by her daughters, Isla Hunter Jones, Caroline Hunter-Reid (Bryan) and five grandchildren: Meghan, Trey, Hunter, Emilia and Cate. She is also survived by her sister, Harriet Stack Moore, of Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held at H M Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill on Saturday, March 18 from 6:00-7:30pm. Funeral service will be on Sunday, March 19 at 2pm at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
