Israel "Issie" Rios, 54, of Nashua, NH passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH after a long battle with liver disease.


He was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 5, 1956, the son of the late Pablo and Francisca (Cardona) Rios.


Israel was educated in the NY school system, graduating from High School in Brooklyn, NY. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor for various places in Nashua. Israel served his Country in the US Army. He was a member of the American Legion; enjoyed photography, working on cars and always was willing to help other people in need. Israel especially loved spending time with his family, including his grandchildren.


He is survived by his former wife of twenty-six years; Maritza Vega; three daughters, Elisabeth Rios of NY, Magaly Rios of Nashua and Mary Rios of Nashua; six brothers, Miguel Rios and Chino Rios both of Puerto Rico, Edwin Rios, Samuel Rios, Peter Rios and Polo Rios all of NY; three sisters, Elba Rios of Puerto Rico, Ida Rios of NY and Iris Rios of FL; four grandchildren, Andrew and Kiana Lafrance and Asha and Xavier Bakari; close friend, Zena Ramirez of Nashua; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.


Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 10 AM to Noon at ST. LAURENT FUNERAL HOME, 116 ELM STREET, NASHUA, NH 03060. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home at Noon. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Israel's name to The Southern NH HIV/AIDS Task Force, 12 Amherst St., Nashua, NH 03064.
