Ivory Ledet, 93, of Salina, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018. He was born July 13, 1924 in Little Washington, Louisiana.

He worked for
Scoular's & Morrison as a Grain Storage Elevator Operator for 20 years, retiring in 1989.

Ivory served in the Army for a while and received a World War II Victory Medal. After his time in the military, he joined Galilee Baptist Church in Jeanerette, LA. And later served on the Board of Deacons. For several years he managed and sang with a popular Gospel Quartet called the "Gloryland Harmonets" which produced several recordings.

He was lovingly called "Snipe" by his friends, and later "Grandpa Snipe" by some of his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lueguster (Loften) Ledet Sr.; son, Benny Lee Ledet; sisters, Gustine Stredit, Beatrice Wight, Mary Ledet, Caroline McFadden; brothers, Thomas James Jr, Reverend Edward Ledet, and Jefferson Ledet, Earl Ledet;
son-in- law, Reginald Madise; daughter- in laws, Brenda Ledet, Alicia Ledet.

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Ruthie (Walton) Ledet; sister, Lena Mae Alex; daughters, Sedonia Alexander, Gertrude Madise, Geraldine Glover, Shirley (Rev. Arthur Lee) Joseph, Gloria (Rev. Wilbert) Francis, Lucy (Josmiebe) Ogbomah, Linda Hulum, Rosemary (Jerry) Young; sons, Dr. Ivory Jr. (Izetta) Ledet, Apostle Sherman Sr. (Sally) Ledet, Pastor Michael Sr. (Brenda) Ledet, Thomas Ledet, Davy Ledet, Darrel Ledet, Jeff Hulum, Cornelis (Michelle) Hulum; forty-nine grandchildren, seventy-seven Great-grandchildren, and 15 Great Great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Thursday, 2-7 with family from 5-7 June 14, 2018 at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina

Funeral services will be held at Friday, 11:00 am, June 15, 2018 at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, 215 South Chicago Avenue, Salina.

Burial, following service, will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina.
