J. Garland was born on December 2, 1929 and passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.

J. Garland was a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana at the time of passing.

Garland proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War.

Garland was a devoted member of New Palestine Christian Church Disciples of Christ and was a 50-year member of the Acton-Brookside Masonic Lodge and the Murat Shrine. Visitation will be Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St. Garland is survived by sons, David Moore, Michael Moore (Kevin Davis), Bobby Mabe (Dianne); brother, Stanley Moore (Hattie); sister-in-law, Margie Mabe (Valerie Childress); brother-in-law, Bobby Pippin; companion, Jenny Knight; grandchildren, Charissa Ford Ramey, Heath and Cody Mabe; one great-grandchild, Harper Mabe.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 510 N. New Jersey St., Indianapolis, IN 46204.
