Jabins “Jay” (Pop) Joseph Luquette – born in Des Allemands, Louisiana on Tuesday, October 10, 1922, left for his final “Fishing Trip in the Sky” on the afternoon of Sunday, July 23, 2017.



Pop was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Lucien Luquette, his beloved wife, Edwina Louise Lotz Luquette, daughter, Karen Angelia Luquette, as well as his brothers, Lawrence Luquette and Alfred Luquette.



Survived by his long-time beloved companion and caregiver, Joyce Mayo, daughter and loving caregiver, Lynn Joy Luquette, daughter and favorite fishing buddy, Darcel “PeeWee” Ferina (Jeffrey), grandson, Brandon Ferina (Starr), granddaughters Deidra Famularo (Felix), Kimberly Sartor (Angelo), and Natalie Burnett (Jason), and great-grandchildren Emery Luquette (Cassie), Kevin Sartor (Samantha), Hollie Dunlap (Joshua), Ryan Sartor (Emily), Dylan and Logan, great great-grandchild, Audrey.



Pop experienced many things in his lifetime, each contributing to the creation of that unique character everyone knew and loved. These included serving his country in WWII and a long career with the I.R.S.



His passions included playing tennis, fishing, cooking, woodworking, and playing cards with his friends and family until the very last week of his life.



Pop will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him, as he was definitely a character! We will all remember him as a caring family man, providing well for them, and being a very loving parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent.
