JACK BERIL CONNER, 72, of Raytown, MO passed away July 24th, 2017 at Garden Terrace Alzheimer’s Center in Overland Park with his family by his side.

Jack was born June 4th, 1945 in Kansas City, KS to Juanita & Jack Conner, Sr. Jack graduated from Sherwood High School in 1965 after postponing his studies to work to provide for his widowed mother and siblings. Jack was a produce manager at Safeway in Clinton, MO where he met and eventually married a young music teacher, Marsha Dawson, in 1975. To this union one son, Jason Conner and one, daughter Misti (Conner) Hutchins was born.

Jack, with the help of his wife, fulfilled his dream of owning a business in 1985 and purchased Allright Rental in Raytown, MO. This career change suited Jack well as he had a passion for helping other’s solve problems, working outdoors and interacting with people. For years, everyone called Allright to “Ask Jack” what was the best tool for the job, how to best tackle a DIY project, or simply to chat about tractors or cattle.

Along with his love of his company, Jack also enjoyed fishing with his father-in-law, spending time with family, raising cattle, hunting, golfing, traveling with his wife and enjoying a nice cold beer with anyone who’d love to share a story or listen to his.

In 2005 Jack was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease which forced him into early retirement. As the years went by, he continued to help and support his family and friends as best he could. This included reseeding his lawn weekly one season, placing Halloween decor in the front yard two weeks before Christmas or calling his daughter eight times to wish her a happy birthday. He’d just shake his head, shrug his shoulders and laugh about the incidents. Jack never knew a stranger and like Will Rogers, he “Never met a man he didn’t like.” His family will always remember his big bear hugs, his sense of humor, his striking eyes and his unbelievable capacity for forgiveness.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marsha; children, Jason Conner of Lee’s Summit, MO and Misti Hutchins (Jamie Hutchins) of Lake Lotawana, MO; grandchildren Anthony & Maddie Conner; brothers, Gary Conner, Eddie Conner, Jesse Conner, Wiley Conner, Kelly Conner and Ed Coulter; sisters, Brenda Pullen, Joyce Crump, Eileen Parks; many loved nieces & nephews.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Heart of America Alzheimer’s Association.
