It is said that Jack Roland Parker was a devoted husband, supportive father, loving grandfather, beloved brother, and well respected businessman. He passed away at Beacon Place in Greensboro after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. He was 80 years old. His life will be celebrated at Shannon Hills Bible Chapel on Sunday, May 29 at 2 PM officiated by Mark Shelley, followed by interment in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Saturday at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory chapel.

Jack was born in Atlanta to the late Alva and Brunnie Crook Parker. In 1953 he met Yvonne Suits at the skating rink and has been lovingly devoted to her since. Through 63 years of marriage they have raised five children and in 1981 started Parker Metal Finishing. They traveled extensively and enjoyed time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jack was always looking for a new adventure to explore from the mountains to the sea and trying different places to eat. As much as he loved to travel he always looked forward to coming home to be greeted by his faithful canine companions, Lucy and Pepper.

He was an honest self-made businessman who believed in the value of hard work and will leave that as his legacy for his family. He was a supportive father who guided his children by actions and advice. He gave his opinion when asked but allowed them to make their own decisions.
He will be truly missed and never forgotten by his wife, Yvonne of the home; daughters, Beverly and husband Gary Stevens Sr., Tracy and husband Jerry Dickerson Jr., both of Greensboro, and daughter, Donna and husband, Ricky Rummage of Lexington; sons, Robert Parker and Keith and wife, Christie Parker both of Greensboro; sister, Pat Lasker and her daughter, Karen Woods; eleven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters.

The family would like to thank Dr. Edwin Green and his staff, Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro and Beacon Place for their compassionate care during Jack's illness. In lieu of flowers please direct memorial contributions to Beacon Place, 2502 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405. Online condolences may be made at www.haneslineberryfuneralhomes.com.
