Jacqueline Ann Haas, artist and teacher, lost her battle with cancer on December 12, 2017. Thanks to the ministrations of Hospice of the Valley, her passing was peaceful with loved ones at her side.

Born in St. Paul, MN, Jackie studied art from an early age and developed a love of the outdoors. Naturally athletic, she enjoyed camping, ice skating and playing basketball. She loved to sing and counted her role in The Pirates of Penzance as one of the highlights of high school. She studied at the College of Saint Catherine and worked as a teacher before marrying Louis Haas in 1960. Together, they raised five children. Jackie was an unwavering advocate for her children and encouraged them to be the best versions of themselves. She was a hockey mom, a Cub scout leader, an art teacher and a naturalist who urged her children to explore the outdoors.

Upon retirement, Jackie and Lou moved to Leisure World in Mesa, AZ where they lived for over 20 years. They enjoyed life to the fullest and became avid golfers, hikers and travelers. Jackie had a new region to explore and loved to hike the Superstition Mountains. She also became active in many of the community's organizations, including the Tennis Club, Art Association, Photography Club and Top Hatters. This past summer, Jackie and Lou moved to Friendship Village and made their new home at 2625 E. Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282.

Jackie often took top prizes for the paintings she entered in local art shows each year. Her talent was immense, yet Jackie was not only a gifted artist, but also an open-hearted person who embraced all aspects of life. She shared her warmth, creativity, and joy of life with everyone in her path. Her family and many friends will miss her deeply.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Virginia, Kitty and Jean (Erne) Koukal. She is survived by her brother John (Theresa) Bell, husband Lou, children Mary (Kurt) Moline, Matt (Sheree), Mark (Dawn), Mitch (Karla) and Michele (Michael), eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren
