An active and respected voice in the community, Jacquelyn A. "Jacky" Hill 76, of Keene, NH, passed away on October 26, 2017 surrounded in the love of her family, at the Westwood Care and Rehabilitation Center in Keene following a period of failing health.

Her parents, Bernard and Dorothy (Mears) Dix, proudly welcomed Jacky into the world on December 10, 1940 in West Brattleboro, Vermont. She grew up in West Brattleboro and was a graduate of Brattleboro High School.

As a young girl, Jacky loved working in the family grocery store, Stockwells' Grocery, in West Brattleboro. This love of running the store continued later in her life when she returned to the store on many occasions to help out.

Jacky took great pride in serving her community as a 3-term member of the Keene City Council in Ward 3, and was very active in all political matters as well. She was appointed by three of our NH Governors to serve on a legislative committee for children, youth and elderly. Jacky also was the first woman to run for Mayor of the City of Keene, and was very active in the campaign strategy to elect former Mayor, Michael Blastos. She also assisted at the voting poles in Ward 3, and was also a member of the Keene Planning Board. She was fondly known as "Jacky-O" by her daughter, Marie, because of her political values.

Jacky also had a great sense of pride in raising her family and caring for her home. As her daughters were growing up, she enjoyed helping with the Girl Scout troops that they were part of. She was a phenomenal cook, insisting that anything worthwhile was always made from scratch. This was especially true with her homemade macaroni and cheese! Jacky was also a member of the Keene Woman's Club.

Jacky shared her love of warm weather here in Keene and also in Florida.

She will be greatly missed by many within the community, especially her husband of 55 years, Douglas E. Hill of Keene; her two daughters, Michelle R. Roy and her husband, David, of Keene; Marie R. Mason and her husband, Carl, of Keene; six grandchildren, Candace Brooker, Cassandra Brooker, Derek Mason, Emily Mason, Catherine Blanchard, Michael Blanchard; her three great-grandchildren, Makayla Brooker, Elizabeth Lagerberg, Alexis Mason; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Bernard Dix.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 10:00AM in the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. Burial will follow in the Mather Cemetery, Mather Road, West Brattleboro, VT. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made in Mrs. Hill's memory to Cedarcrest, 91 Maple Avenue, Keene, NH 03431.
