James A. D'Angelo of Mariners Harbor died Nov. 27, 2017.
A native of Staten Island, he attended St. Mary's and McKee High School.
James loved car shows, fishing, going to Atlantic City, and any family gathering that involved his children, grandchildren, cousins, and his girlfriend Joann's children and their kids. He loved everyone and always had a smile on his face.
His love of cars started in his yard on Van Pelt Avenue, which progressed to owning a gas station in Meiers Corners. He was also the owner-operator of his own junkyard, 3Js Service Corporation, which he ran for more than 50 years. He retired as a tractor operator for the NYC Department of Sanitation.
He was a member of St. Adalbert's Church.
James is survived by his children, James, Joseph, Michele, daughter-in-law, Pamela, son-in-law, Chris; five grandkids, Joseph, James, Juliana, Barbara, Alexis; longtime companion, Joann Owen; brother, John, and sister, Elizabeth. He was predeceased by Barbara, his wife of more than 30 years, and parents, James and Marie D'Angelo.
Visitation is at Casey Funeral Home today, Tuesday, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Adalbert's. Burial follows at St. Peter's.
